E-mail Print PDF

Hi all, The tour to Naval Base, Haulbowline in Cork Harbour, is on this Sunday (14/03/2010). This is  an opportunity not to be missed and there are a small number of placed remaining Malachy Collisons bus (thanks Malachy). We will be leaving Nenagh Sunday morning at 8AM (so be there 10 min before). The Abbey Court hotel have kindly given us permission to use their car park as a meeting point.

The lunch that was on offer is now dinner (as they don't do lunch on Sundays) and will cost €5.50. It has been booked for us.

We're not sure what time we will be getting back as yet. There is no definite answer as to how long the tour will take.

If you need any more info please contact either Fiona or Tom.

New Courses & Tests Book

The updated Courses & Tests Book is now available for download from the CFT website ("Training Courses" folder of the download section at http://www.cft.ie/Downloads/index.htm) or click here

The book has been considerably updated with content standardised throughout. New courses and changes to older courses are now included.

Additional sections include: Repeats Policy, Appeals Policy and Guidelines for Jury Presidents. The Guidelines for JPs are relevant to everyone; not just JPs.

The ONLY Courses & Tests Book to be used is this one: Courses & Tests 2010.

There will be one more edition of the book later this year to include two new courses. If there is anything you notice that ought to be amended please advise Niall at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Resize Photos

Some users were having difficulty uploading images to the Photo Gallery. This is because the company we use to host this website limits the size of files being uploaded to 2MB. Modern digital cameras take photos which are larger than this 2MB limit.

To circumvent this problem, I've added a facility which allows users to resize their photos so that they can be uploaded.

Log in and find the Resize Photos link in the User Menu. A brief explanation of the process can be found in Tutorials section.

Naval Base Tour, Cork

E-mail Print PDF

A tour of the Naval Base in Cork has been organised for Sunday 14th March. Lt. Tony Regan is our contact there. He is the mine clearance diving Officer and Officer in charge of diving services.

At present, the trip will consist of a tour of the harbour on one of their launches followed by a tour of the diving section (subject to the section not being called out to service). We hope to see their chamber but will not be allowed a "dry dive". Lunch will be available, if required, and will cost €4 each. After lunch we hope to get a tour of one of their ships.

Numbers are limited. Children will be allowed and we will all have to sign an insurance indenmity form before the tour.

Times will be available nearer the date. Due to the nature of their work the format, date and time may change.

The cost of the trip has been significantly reduced because Malachy Collison has offered to run a bus at a reduced rate. Thank you Malachy. The cost of the tour is a very reasonable €15 and needs to be paid in advance to either Fiona or Tom.
